Is it terrible to allow a pre-teen to drink coffee or energy drinks?

energy drink
abuilderswife asked:

My son enjoys a cup of coffee (or an energy drink) with me in the afternoon. It seems like an okay thing to allow after a long school day and before homework/chores. My husband thinks it’s awful. From a medical stand-point, I’ve heard there’s nomore caffine in a cup of hot chocolate. He is absolutely limited to a cup/can a day, has no behavior issues and I do not notice a change in his demeanor.

WOO! a can a day is way to much for any teenager, you dont want to mess with their natural cycle.
